An Angry Black Woman's Guide to Self-Care 📝

Morning Musings
As my dear friend Anuli would say, I got a lot to be mad about. I know a lot of y'all are accustomed to me being pretty happy-go-lucky, but the truth of the matter is, there are days when I'm definitely an angry Black woman. And Monday was one of them.
I won't get into specifics, just know that I handled the aggravating situations like a BOSS.

But it's a delicate balance for Black women to deal with racism and sexism, otherwise known as misogynoir, while doing all that we do (and trust me, we do a LOT) with a smile.
As Papa Pope told Olivia on Scandal (and every Black parent has told their child since the dawn of time), we have to work TWICE has hard just to get HALF as much. And to be frank, I'm sick and tired of the bullshit.
Fighting the patriarchy is exhausting. Doing so as a Black woman is damn near impossible. And I'm straight. I can't even imagine what it's like doing so as a gay, queer or otherwise non-conforming woman of color.
Check out my Angry Black Woman's Guide to Self-Care for budget-friendly ways to #TreatYoSelf when you DGAF (spoiler alert: these tips can helpful for just about anyone). And remember to take care of yourselves, ladies. We all we got.
Love,
L'Oreal

No, we won't calm down -- tone policing is just another way to protect privilege
Because we're sisters. We stand together.
My Latest Obsession

Words can't express how much I'm obsessed Nicholle Kobi's work. I've been following the Black French illustrator's work for some time on Instagram and every time I see her art, I want to buy every. single. piece. Seriously, it's a problem. I love how she perfectly captures what it means to be a modern Black woman...and all of our shapes, shades and idiosyncrasies. Thank you, Nicholle, thank you.
