Are you drinking pickle juice? 😶

Morning Musings
Over the weekend, I had the distinct pleasure of attending Galvanize Chicago, hosted by the United State of Women. Throughout the two-day event, I had the opportunity to soak up all the awesomeness and wisdom from speakers such as Dorri McWhorter, CEO of YWCA Chicago; Illinois Rep. Robin Kelly; Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx; Tina Tchen, former executive director of the White House Council on Women and Girls; and Valeria Jarrett, former senior advisor to President Barack Obama ... just to name a few.

And one of my favorite parts of the entire conference was a video I watched during the leadership track, hosted by Emilie Aries of Bossed Up (and the Stuff Mom Never Told You podcast, which I raved about a couple of weeks ago).
In the video, Nicki Minaj addresses sexism in the music industry and recounts the time she stormed out of a photoshoot because there had been a meager clothes budget and, literally, pickle juice.
"Is that wrong?" she asks. "For wanting more for myself, wanting people to treat me with respect? But you know what? Next time, they know better. But had I accepted the pickle juice, I would be drinking pickle juice right now." Â
So what is the "pickle juice" in your own life? Is it being paid less than you know you're worth? Is it settling for a mediocre relationship? Is it not going after your dreams? Each of us is offered some version of "pickle juice" every single day. But it's up to you whether you choose to drink it.
Don't drink the pickle juice. You're better than that. And you deserve better.
Love,
L'Oreal

It's hard to believe, but this time 11 years ago, I was getting ready to study abroad in Spain for a semester.

And I was scared AF. Join me on my trip down memory lane in my latest for HelloGiggles and learn how the experience taught me I was capable of being on my own.

Admittedly, I was a slow to the Talenti trend, but I recently tried the Cinnamon Peach Biscuit flavor at my prayer group and fell. in. love (not to mention searched high and low for this flavor at my local grocery stores)! In the summer, I'm all about peach-flavored err'thang and this delectable frozen deliciousness hit the sweet spot. Imagine a peach cobbler in gelato form and thank me later.
