That time a Marriott commercial made me cry ðŸ˜

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." —The Golden Rule
Morning Musings
With everything that's been going on lately -- from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey to Trump ordering an end to DACA -- Â it's easy to lose hope and faith in humanity. But I like to believe there is more good in the world than evil, which is why Marriott's Golden Rule commercial brought me to tears late Tuesday evening.

ALL the feels. But what I found even more inspiring than the commercial was the poem behind it...
"Human Beings Being Human" by Joe Flach
It would be great if human beings
Were great at being human
And if all of mankind
Were made up of kind men
It would be wonderful if common knowledge
Was knowledge commonly known
And if the light from being enlightened
Into every heart was shown
It would be fantastic if the war to end all wars
Was the last war that we fought
It would be amazing if we learned the lessons
From every lesson we were taught
It would be cool if our freedom
To us was freely granted
And if every seed of kindness
Would grow wherever planted
It would be glorious if neighbors were neighborly
And prejudice a forgotten word
It would be awesome if we shared everything
And being greedy was absurd
It would be spectacular if the golden rule
Was golden to every man
And the good things that we ever did
Was everything that we can
So this week (and for all of eternity), let's make the extra effort to be kind to one another. After all, a little bit of love goes a long way.
Love,
L'Oreal

What I'm Reading Now

A lot of you have asked me (whether online or IRL) for book recommendations, so I thought I'd share what I'm reading now. While reading Jen Sincero's book You Are a Badass earlier this year, I made a mental note to read the sequel: You Are a Badass at Making Money. Because who doesn't like to make money?! Well, I finally got around to it (my to-read list on Goodreads is hella long) and I LOVED it.
Now, it is a bit "woo woo," for those of you who lean toward the cynical side. But if you're ready to make a change in your attitude toward money, this book is for you. If you're looking for an easy five-step get-rich-quick kinda book, this ain't the one for you, honey. This book is full of mantras and homework, but, like most things, if you do the work, it's bound to pay off (pun intended).
Check out Jen's episode of the Dreams in Drive podcast to learn more (while you're there, you can check out my old episode. #shamelessplug).Â
