Why are millennial women so broke? 🙍

Morning Musings
After talking to several of my friends a couple of weeks ago, I had the following revelation: we're all broke AF. Seriously. Three of my friends had less than $20 in their checking accounts, myself included. So, how did we get here? We're not supposed to be here (Deborah Cox voice).
Well, I hate to sound super millennial, but it's not exactly like the recession did us any favors. A college degree was supposed to be our golden ticket, but how could we have prepared for the economy to tank?!
Now, in all fairness, the friends I spoke to live major cities, specifically New York and Chicago -- arguably two of the most expensive metropolitan areas in the country. Between rent, bills, food, student loans and the occasional Uber, the struggle is real (and yes, I'm well aware that these are first-world problems).
The Chicago Foundation for Women defines a livable wage as an annual salary of $40,000. And I know a few women who are making less than that. We've got to do better as a society. But I can't blame it all on the economy.
After reading Jen Sincero's latest book, You Are a Badass at Making Money (p.s. peep the giveaway below!), I realized I had to change my mindset toward money and adopt positive money mantras ("money flows easily into my life") rather than the ones I've been saying my entire adult life ("I'm so broke, I'm never going to make a lot of money.").
I had to give myself permission to make more money and get rid of all the fear, doubt and, honestly, the excuses that were holding be back. I needed to stop playing the victim and start kicking ass. And you can, too.
Love,
L'Oreal
P.s. I've been listening to this meditation about welcoming abundance for about a week now. It's sooo good!

So idk about where you live, but it's been damn near 100 degrees in Chicago the last week or so (can you say #ClimateChange?). Thankfully, Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream has some delightful fall flavors to get us through this heatwave. Sweet Potato Eclair ice cream tastes just like Thanksgiving, and I can't wait to get my hands on their Pumpkin 5-Spice flavor. Don't live near a Jeni's? I pity you. But thankfully, you can order this deliciousness online. Bon appetit!
