Do you know the way to Santa Fe? ✈

Morning Musings
Yes, despite the subject line of this email, I am aware that the name of the song is actually "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" However, yours truly is heading to Santa Fe this weekend to celebrate my 30th birthday in complete solitude.
That's right. I'm embarking on my very first solo trip and I could not be more excited. I first got the idea from my friend, Anuli, who treats herself to a solo trip for her birthday every year (check out her tips ).
After a Harlem Renaissance-themed #GoldenBirthday last year, I'd originally intended to ring in the big 3-0 with my husband at Walt Disney World. I've been to Disneyland and I've been on Disney Cruises, but have never visited Disney World proper. But then the thought of spending my 30th birthday surrounded by screaming, runny-nosed kids sounded less and less appealing as the months went on.

And the thought of ushering in this next chapter of my life grounded and re-centered started to sound more appealing. An entire weekend to do what I want, when I want? Sign me up, please! I had only two requirements for my first solo trip:
1) Someplace I'd never been
2) Someplace I didn't know anyone
After visiting Phoenix this weekend for a girls' trip, I fell in love with the Southwest and couldn't wait to return. I may very well stay at the resort -- poolside with a good book and a drink in my hand. But, in the event that I decide to venture out, let me know your restaurant and sightseeing recommendations for Santa Fe.
Love,

I've been a fan of The Muse, a career website, for some time now. It's my go-to for career advice, interview questions and email templates. So you can imagine my delight when one of the editors decided to feature me in their Career Story column (eek)! Learn more about how I transitioned from journalism to a career in nonprofits here.

Ask any of my coworkers and they will tell you how much I love this trilogy by Kevin Kwan. I got the entire marketing team to read Crazy Rich Asians, the first book in the series, and now we're all practically counting down the days until the movie of the same name. And the third book, Rich People Problems, doesn't disappoint. I have to admit I'll miss the antics of this uber rich Shang-Young family, but I'm hoping I'll get to enjoy their drama on the big screen in the years to come.
