"Nothing changes until you do."
Morning Musings
This month at Soul City Church, we've been talking about willing over wanting. And by "we," I mean the pastors, husband-and-wife duo Jarrett and Jeanne. But oh, have I been listening.
It's not enough to merely "want" to do something. You have to sit down with yourself and ask what are you "willing" to do to make it happen. This sermon series has got me thinking about my goals for the year -- grow closer to God, write a book, speak at a conference -- and what I'm willing to do to get there.
Am I willing to go to sleep earlier so that I can wake up earlier and spend quiet quality time with God in the morning? Am I willing to get up before the sun so I can work on my book before heading into the office for my day job? Am I willing to invest in myself and the tools I need so I can become a better speaker?
This time of the year it's so easy to make these newfound resolutions about what we want to do, but what are you willing to do to get there? It's time to leave the excuses behind and get to work.
Catch up on the series here and, if you're in Chicago, join me this Sunday at the 11 a.m. service (or you can watch online here).
Whatever you want to do this year, I hope you're willing to do what it takes.
Love,
L'Oreal
P.s. Shoutout to my work husband, Pedro Vega of Wasena Creative, for the new template design! He's also the creative genius behind my website. ;)

Yes, I know the New Year isn't so "new" anymore. But I'd be a bad friend if I didn't share my 18 ways to live your best life in 2018 (you can thank me later).

And, as if that wasn't enough, I'm also talking about how I became pro-choice after a private school education taught me otherwise in my latest for HelloGiggles.

My Latest Obsession

Confession: I didn't read The Fault in Our Stars, nor did I see the movie. BUT I just finished John Green's latest, Turtles All the Way Down, and I absolutely LOVED it! Maybe I'll have to go back and give his other books I try. I know I've been on a YA kick lately, but a good book is a good book, genre notwithstanding. If you're looking for a quick, easy read about the power of lifelong friendship, this book delivers ... and then some.
