Morning Musings
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I try to avoid confrontation at all cost. It's the reason I lost a friend over a bridesmaid dress (long story).
And, of course, this year I've had to have a few difficult conversations all in the name of "protecting my peace." Why do I find it so hard to just say what's on my mind in the moment?
Recently, one of my coworkers shared how her intention for the year is to "say the thing." It's something that my therapist has challenged me to do as well.

And after seeing a Shine article about using "radical candor" to push through awkward situations I'm a) buying Radical Candor: Be a Kick-Ass Boss Without Losing Your Humanity ASAP and b) attempting to adopt the philosophy in my everyday life.
I've been wasting too much time dwelling on situations and replaying conversations in my mind trying to come up with the "right" thing to say at the "right" moment.
More often than not, that perfect moment will never present itself, so why expend the mental energy trying to create it? If, like me, you also struggle with speaking up for yourself, I invite you to say the thing. You'll feel so much better.
Best,
L'Oreal

My Latest Obsession

Now that the sun is finally out here in Chicago, it's time to slather up on the SPF! And while I know that I should wear sunscreen every day, I don't necessarily do ... that is until my fairy godmother/former cheerleading captain Allie Brenner gifted me with Rodan + Fields' Reverse Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ Sunscreen.Â
First of all, it's a sunscreen that doesn't smell like sunscreen, which, I'll admit, is one of my biggest turnoffs when it comes to wearing it daily. And it's small enough that I can carry it in my purse and actually reapply it every two to three hours like you're supposed to. PLUS, it has built-in anti-aging and skin-brightening ingredients!
At $42, it's certainly an investment, but honey, your face is worth it! ;)
