Morning Musings
Dear Chicago,
You were supposed to be temporary. One, two years max on my way to a glamorous life as a magazine editor in New York City. Yet somehow, I'm still here ... five years later.

In fact, Jeff and I just bought a condo in your Rogers Park neighborhood. So I guess we're going to be here a little while longer. This was never in the plan. None of this was a part of plan. But I suppose that's the way life goes.
It's safe to say you've got a hold on me. When I reflect back on my time spent here, I'll remember Chicago as the place where I truly came into myself and fully stepped into my power.
A place where I learned to embrace being a feminist and a city where I learned what it means to be "woke." The city where I finally fell in love in with myself as a Black woman and all that entails.

Thank you, Chicago, for shaping me into the person I am today. Here's to the next five years!
Love,
L'Oreal

My Latest Obsession

There's no place quite like #SummertimeChi and because it only lasts a hot minute (literally), I try to make the most of it with as much rooftop yoga as possible.
Last year, I went to R&B Yoga's trap rooftop yoga (yes, it's exactly like it sounds) so when I learned that a Beyoncé-themed one had been added to the lineup this summer, you KNOW I had to check it out.
And I'm glad it did. It was hot, of course, but so worth it. I just love chilling in Shavasna while staring up at a beautiful blue sky (and listening to Bey). Life just doesn't get much better than that.
