"If I didn't define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people's fantasies for me and eaten alive." — Audre Lorde
Morning Musings
While eating dinner after unpacking our kitchen and putting together our dining room table (okay, to be fair, Jeff did most of the assembling), I paused to reflect.
In the words of Beyoncé, "I can't believe we made it/This is what we're thankful for."

As we sipped our celebratory wine, I thought back to the wish list we'd shared with our real estate agent, Melanie Stone, during our first coffee meeting earlier this year. At the time, it seemed like just that ... a big wish. And now it's our reality.
I asked a coworker and fellow homeowner (hey, Brynne!) about when a house starts to feels like a home. To which she shared the following Velveteen Rabbit quote with me, “It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but really loves you, then you become real.”
As much as I'm excited for our new home, it still doesn't feel *real* (probably because it's still littered with boxes and dust from the contractor). But I know we'll get there eventually. Like Mariah Carey sang, "Love takes time."

My Latest Obsession

I mean, what else could I be obsessed with this week? Since news dropped that Bey would be gracing us on the cover of Vogue yet again (AND commissioning the FIRST Black cover photographer in the magazine's 126-year history), I've been impatiently waiting for the issue to drop.
You see, Queen Bey doesn't *do* interviews. So when she speaks, we better listen up. And she didn't hold back in the cover story, sharing insight on everything from loving your body the way it is to using your platform and power to uplift others.
I'm going to be TOO turnt up for OTRII ... anybody else going Friday in Chicago? I'll be the one in the knockoff Balmain hoodie and jumbo box braids.
