"For those of you doubting your purpose, or place in this life, know that YOU ARE love. That resilient, powerful, unshakable type love. Remember that. There’s no shrinking. Show up. You’re allowed to take up space." — alexandra elle
Morning Musings
I was first made aware of the idea of superpowers back in 2015 when I interviewed Saya Hillman for Brit + Co. Like most people, I'd long equated superpowers with superheroes and I'd never stopped to consider that us mere mortals possess them, too.
Like Saya told me way back when: "Your superpower could be something you’re naturally good at or even things you don’t think of as skills but other people admire, such as making spreadsheets. It’s really easy as adults to lose sight of how awesome of a person you are."
Now I know for a fact that my superpower is storytelling, whether it's writing or public speaking ... heck, I'm even great at podcast interviews! And this isn't a #humblebrag, I have evidence: journalism awards, a Rolodex of publications I've written for and hundreds of y'all who subscribe to and read this here newsletter every week.

But recently, my success coach Heather Vickery (Hi, Heather!) pushed me to dig deeper. Yes, I'm naturally good at storytelling, but what else? After reflecting a while longer, I came up with the following superpower: I'm a pusher.
Yes, just like Tina Fey in Mean Girls, I push people. I push people to dream bigger and bolder. I push people to go after that promotion, to start that blog, to switch careers, if that's what they really want. I'm your BFF, personal cheerleader and life coach all rolled into one.
So what is the one thing (or several) that you're really, really good at? The skill/talent/quirk that people come to you for? If you're not sure, ask your best friend. Ask your boss. Ask your colleague.Â
And don't try to brush it off and claim that you don't have one. Everybody has a superpower. Yes, everyone, including you. What's your superpower? Hit "reply" and let me know!

My Latest Obsession

So I've been a fan of Glossier for a little while now. What can I say? Apparently I'm a sucker for good branding and millennial-pink packaging. When the online skincare and makeup company opened their Chicago pop-up, I visited with my friend and Glossier guru, Jess.Â
There I fell in love with their Cloud Paint cream blush. Admittedly, I was a bit skeptical at first. I'd never tried cream blush before and I was worried the Storm tint, the "warm rose" one, would be too dark for my complexion. In short, it was perfect ... I mean, it actually ended up looking natural -- as if someone had pinched my cheeks.
What I like about Glossier is that it's pretty much foolproof ... I mean, you have to really try to mess it up. And did I mention I love their packaging?
