Morning Musings
In the words of Hamilton's Thomas Jefferson, what did I miss?
There is just something so gratifying about setting that out-of-office reply and logging off social media for a week. I feel something like rejuvenated (or rather I did until I came back to the flurry of my inboxes. HALP!)
As a self-professed workaholic (who's already deleted the Gmail app from my phone), it takes everything in me not to "check in" and make sure I'm not missing any opportunities. #FreelancerProblems
Sure, a few editors reached out with assignments and someone even inquired about a speaking engagement and guess what? I replied when I returned and the world did not stop spinning. I didn't "miss out" on anything because I didn't respond within 15 minutes of when the message was originally sent.
Hustle culture and scarcity mindset are not the way to go, I promise you. Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt. And as my mom often likes to remind me, "what's meant for you won't miss you." There's enough to go around for all of us.
So I encourage you, fellow workaholics (especially you freelancers), to set the OOO, delete the email app, and BREATHE. The work's not going anywhere. It'll be right there waiting for you when you get back. I guarantee it.
Love,
L'Oreal

In my latest for Mater Mea, I wrote about six ways to get the infertility support you need.
I'm also excited to share that LT in the City Weekly was listed as one of USA Today editor Mabinty Quarshie's favorite newsletters. Thank you, Mabinty, for the love!

My Latest Obsession
Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers had been on my TBR list (that's to be read list for you non-bookworms) forrrevverr and I finally had the chance to read, or rather devour it, during our 8+ hour drive to Outer Banks. If you're an anxious perfectionist like me, chances are you'll also relate to the main character, Grace. Now all I need is a film adaptation. Someone call Reese...
