Morning Musings
In the midst of caring for a tiny human and prepping to write my first book (eek!), I completely overlooked a major milestone—the fifth anniversary of this here newsletter.

On Jan. 4, 2017, I sent the very first issue of #LTintheCityWeekly to a whopping 29 people (most of whom who were related to me). What began as an exercise in consistency inspired by my friend Anuli Akanegbu, who also had a weekly newsletter at the time, is now a community of more than 1,700 readers. Started from the bottom, now we're here!
Anywho who spends an iota of time on social media knows that content is king, but real ones know that consistency is queen. Every Tuesday night for the past five years, I've poured myself onto these digital pages. Some weeks the words flow more easily than others.
There have been times I've scrapped an entire newsletter at the nth hour due to breaking news I just had to write about, or there was a message on my heart I desperately needed to share. And those moments are always worth it whenever I hear from one of you that that message was exactly what you needed to hear.
Whether you've been here since the beginning or you've recently joined the club, I appreciate you welcoming me into your inbox every Wednesday morning. I don't take your support and encouragement for granted and yes, I do respond to every email, so feel free to hit reply and chat it up. I enjoy hearing what resonates with you. It's my motivation to keep going on the days when the words don't come as easily.
To celebrate five years of this "midweek dose of motivation," I invite you to do one (or all) of the following:
Share this newsletter with five of your friends (one of my 2022 goals is to get to 2,000 subscribers!)
Send me a coffee (hey, a girl needs caffeine)
Spend five minutes caring for yourself today (and if you choose this option, let me know what you decide to do!)
Thank you again for rocking with me, y'all are the real MVPs!
Love,
L'Oreal
I Want to Interview You
Thanks so much to everyone who's completed the book survey so far, I really appreciate it and I can't wait to dig into your answers! Trust Your Dopeness is all about overcoming impostor syndrome and conquering self-doubt. And I want to hear from you!
I want to hear it all--your stories, your anecdotes, your challenges and triumphs when it comes to self-doubt. If you're willing to speak with me, please fill out the short survey below. It should take about 5-10 minutes (depending on how deep you want to get) and I'd be eternally grateful. Thank you in advance!
"Pause, Rest, Be" Book Club
I'm excited to be one of 13 book club hosts for Pause, Rest, Be: Stillness Practices for Courage in Times of Change, the second book from my friend, mentor and yoga teacher Octavia Rahee. We'll meet twice as a small group on Feb. 9 and Feb. 16 and then once as a larger group with the author herself on Feb. 26!
And this is no ordinary book club. I'll be leading you through a restorative yoga practice as well. So purchase your book, grab whatever makes you cozy and I'll meet you on the mat (or ya know, your sofa, bed--wherever you feel comfy!). All levels are welcome.

My Latest Obsession

I swear this newsletter isn't sponsored by Netflix, but I have been bingeing new shows lately. As a former cheerleader, obviously I'm obsessed with Cheer. I love that this season features Navarro's rival, Trinity Valley Community College. It's got major Bring It On vibes and I'm here for it.
