Morning Musings
I decided to do things a bit differently this time and record a solo episode of the podcast as this week’s newsletter. It’s all about the (hard) lessons I learned from doing too much last month and how I’m working on doing things differently this month. If you’ve ever found yourself overwhelmed by your to-do list, then this episode is for you.
And stay tuned for next week’s episode, which features an interview with Nathalie Walton, vice president of brand and social impact at Babylist. She’s also the former CEO and co-founder of Expectful, a holistic wellness app for hopeful, expecting, and new moms. We’re talking about all things maternal mental health in honor of Mother’s Day and Mental Health Awareness Month.

At last week’s conference, I had the honor of interviewing Charles Johnson, founder of 4Kira4Moms. Johnson’s wife, Kira, died after bleeding internally for more than 10 hours following a C-section to deliver their second son. Kira should still be here. Learn more about Johnson’s organization and his mission to eradicate the Black maternal mortality crisis in my latest for Fortune.
Also, I got my first official media hit for the book! Much love and many thanks to Terri Huggins Hart for including me in this roundup of books to read for Juneteenth in Good Housekeeping! Like, my book is in the feature image…what?!
Upcoming Events
May 6: Mommy & Me Yoga [only two tickets left!!]. I’m teaming up with my girl Nia of Nia’s Nest for a special pre-Mother’s Day event for the mamas and their littles. Light refreshments will be served and we’ll be mixing & mingling afterward.
