what to do when everything feels pointless
The world’s on fire and we’re still expected to answer emails?

Morning Musings
Once again, I had another newsletter written to share with you. Once again, the world is on fire (both literally and figuratively). Once again, we’re having to protest for basic human rights. Living in America in 2025 is a hot-ass dumpster fire. And yet we’re expected to go about our lives as though it’s business as usual when it’s anything but.
Showing up to work, taking our kids to school, even meeting a friend for coffee can all seem kind of…pointless in the grand scheme of things. And if you’re feeling a little (or a lot) hopeless about it all you’re not alone. As one Instagram post I saw yesterday shared, our tiny brains weren’t designed to hold so much global grief and sorrow.
We were never supposed to be this in tune with what’s going on around the world. And yet, here we are—privy to it all. It’s enough to make you want to scream into the abyss (and if you haven’t done this lately, I highly recommend it. Screaming into a pillow will also suffice if you prefer not to scare your housemates and/or neighbors).
It’s so easy to feel frustrated, useless, hopeless…all of the above. And this is not the time for toxic positivity. There is real shit going on. And yet…I believe there is still beauty in this world. I believe that each of us has a gift that can be used toward the greater good. No, you don’t have to be a tech bro billionaire and yes, you can start where you are. That’s all we’ve ever been able to do. Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.
Not all of us were meant to be on the frontlines of the protests (yes, I’m referring to myself here). But I very much consider my art—my writing—as a form of activism. I believe that parenting—raising tiny humans to be globally conscious citizens—is a form of activism. As a Black woman, I also consider my joy, my rest and my relationships to be revolutionary.
And when you’re depleted? You pause. You pass the torch. You let yourself be held.
Then, when you’re ready, you tap back in.
If you're looking for a soft place to land this week, I’ve got you. Whether it's through this newsletter, a journal prompt, a yoga class, or a quiet moment on your own, I hope you’ll give yourself what you need.
We can't do it all.
But we can do something.
And sometimes, that something is simply choosing not to give up.
Need a journal prompt to process it all? Try this: Where do I feel most called to serve right now? Where do I need to rest?

My Latest Obsession
It took me roughly two weeks to recover from getting home at 2 a.m. following a three-hour rain delay/tornado watch at the opening night of the Cowboy Carter tour. How do I know? After receiving incessant Instagram ads, I finally decided to download the RISE app, an app that not only tracks your sleep, but shares your energy peaks and dips throughout the day. As an entrepreneur, it’s helped me better manage my workdays so that I’m tackling my creative projects when I have the most energy and scheduling naps and/or admin work when the inevitable 3 p.m. slump rolls around. Thank you for your words. I gave birth to my second child a week before the election in 2024. I had to shut everything out except my family, it felt like survival. After a few months, I found the best ways I could contribute to the cause was through donations and regular calls to congress, both things that feel manageable in my current phase of life.
