Hey girl, heyyy! đđžââď¸
Iâm LâOreal (yes, like the makeup, no affiliation)âa Chicago-based author, journalist, and your virtual cheerleader. My words have appeared in The Cut, Essence, Romper, SELF, Well + Good, and more. Iâm also the author of Stop Waiting for Perfectâa love letter to recovering perfectionists who are ready to stop doubting themselves and start taking up space.
When Iâm not writing (which, letâs be honest, is most of the time), youâll find me reading, riding my Peloton, or catching up on Real Housewives (Atlanta and Potomac, always).
What is LT in the City Weekly?
I started this newsletter back in 2017 as a personal âexercise in consistency,â but it quickly became something biggerâa gathering space for high-achieving women who crave inspiration, real talk, and career advice without the fluff. Back then, I was working in nonprofit PR while freelancing on the side, searching for a way to write what I wanted, when I wanted, without gatekeepers. LT in the City Weekly became that space.
Every Wednesday, I slide into your inbox with:
⨠A powerful quoteâusually from a Black womanâbecause we deserve to see ourselves reflected in words of wisdom.
đ A personal note from meâsometimes deep, sometimes hilarious, always honest.
đ A curated roundup of events, articles, and must-reads to keep you informed and inspired.
đĽ My latest obsessionâwhether itâs a book, a binge-worthy show, or a product I swear by.
đź Job listings in media, nonprofits, and other creative fieldsâbecause we love to see our people win.
Why should you subscribe?
Because youâre tired of newsletters that feel like a to-do list. LT in the City Weekly is a midweek pick-me-up, designed to make you feel seen, encouraged, and ready to tackle whateverâs next.
Itâs free to subscribe, but putting this newsletter together is a labor of love. Becoming a paid subscriber helps keep it free for everyoneâthink of it like supporting public radio, but make it Black girl magic.
Free vs. Paid: Whatâs the difference?
đš Free subscribers get the weekly newsletterâno strings attached.
đ¸ Paid subscribers get exclusive perks, like discounts on events and merch, a shoutout in the newsletter, and the satisfaction of knowing theyâre supporting a hardworking writer-mom who pours her heart into this community.
