As always... Bravo to another great article! I, too, had to come to the realization, that I am no longer that "hot" 30, 40 or 50 year old, vivacious female. However, Thank God, that the "New Age" is the curvy, voluptuous Sistah (hats off to Lizzo) that we are Special no matter what. As long as you stay healthy, vibrant, spiritually and emotionally grounded...you are perfect as you are! Love you to the moon and back!
This was exactly what I needed to read <3 I'm really struggling with comparing myself to my newly postpartum body, and thinking (in my spiraling brain) that everyone else figured out how to "bounce back". I love the idea of renovating your wardrobe, since that's usually where my spiraling starts! I try to get outside every day, and that helps my mood a lot. Thank you for sharing!
My post-partum body is all sorts of different. None of my pants fit anymore (they fit on the waist but I have lost my whole butt and legs so everything looks poochy and baggy in an unintentional way), and the POUNDS of hair I'm losing every day feels so obvious to me, especially at the temples which feels super visible when it's in a ponytail (but it's getting hot outside, what to do!?). I decided to invest in my self care by doing some laser hair removal (face and armpits). The maintenance of that has taken up so much time in my day to day for 20+ years and I'm over it. And I try to just appreciate the glory of walking outside 2-3x/day and embrace the legging life for these chicken legs + birthing belly that are newly mine.
Yes, love this! And as SOON as we stop breastfeeding I'm planning to get my eyebrows microbladed because ain't nobody got time to draw on eyebrows every day! 🙌🏾
Niece,

Yes! I like to think of it as an investment in my self-confidence. 💜
